Of late, I've had the obsession with the Old Shanghai of the 1930s, prior to WWII Japanese occupation. The style and glamour of Old Shanghai seems to evoke a myriad of emotions. With the Peace Hotel stoically taking centre place of the activites of the Shanghai Bund back in the day, the Peace Hotel had probably witnessed countless pieces of history lost in the sands of time.
There's just something intriguing about the style of the Shanghainese ladies of that era, it's captivating. Suggesting and seductive but not slutty nor trashy. That era of the Shanghai bund spells old money, exoticism, luxury and glamour.
