At the onset of my 14th week, I can now feel my energy and appetite slowly creeping back. Still having my morning sickness (which really, should be called all-day sickness), I find myself wanting to down some meat back into my tummy. Which, by the way, I have consumed very little in the past 10 weeks.
So, this is what we had for dinner. Though a first visit, but it most likely would not be our last.
Disclaimer: Hamburgers is not on our list of must-eats/regular haunts, but it definitely satisfied my meat craving today.
Pork and Bacon Burger with 100g pork patty.
I ordered a Pork Burger. Apparently a 'very popular' choice as termed on their menu. Also a 100g patty.
Finally, my husband and I both realised we had room for more! So we went on to order a 200g version of...
the 'Asian Chicken Burger' that comes with salted egg yolk sauce. Yes, how very asian of a garnish/sauce. But it turned out quite well. The flavour, oddly enough, tickled me. It was definitely an interesting, yet nice twist to burgers. **Pls do not try this flavour if Asian flavours generally do not seat well on your palate.
Our overall conclusion, we would come back here to try their other interesting flavours (there was even one with nutella spread and another with peanut butter spread). It is definitely not simply fast-food style burgers. While I'm not expert on burgers, I can definitely tell that burgers offered at MacD's and Carl's Junior contain a hell lot more preservatives than De Burg. All the different sauces and flavours come together pretty well, neither flavour/ingredient competing with each other. For my first Pork Burger, I can distinctively remember the tangy, sweet onion flavour with a slight salty-ness from a very thin slice of fried bacon strip (which thankfully does not contain much fat). Quite nicely done.
Prices for 100g burgers are generally about SGD9.00 and SGD15.00 for the 200g versions.
Although I must add that 100g patty for any burger is definitely too thin and not chunky enough. But flavour-wise, it is about 90% perfect (only because I believe there still must be a 100% perfect burger out there in the world that we have yet to sink our teeth in).
