The year 2013 has been an unreal and exciting year for me. Lauren was born middle of May and to sum up the past 7 months in a word, it would be "educational". Everyday, I experience something new with her. Everyday, we experience this gift that "God" or nature has given us.
Our entire lifestyle has changed because of her. We have given up late night parties, and supper with friends because we both cannot keep ourselves awake past 11pm at night. To say the least, we have become very domesticated. There are many dining places that we used to frequent when we were still child-less, which is highly inconvenient for us to go to now. No more movies. Everytime we want to go out, it would mostly be a tag game - always has to be someone looking out for her. Our schedule is built around her. Even choosing flight times, it decided on a schedule that suits Lauren best. She is the least cranky in the morning, hence, all our flights have now been shifted from noon/afternoon flights to early morning flights (anytime ranging from 6am - 9am).
Even last night for NYE, though we wanted to go to Marina Bay Sands to watch the countdown, we did not. We both went to bed at 11pm.
finally found a baby seat that fits her comfortably
a picture collage that my sister had created for Lauren
made Lauren sit in this box as we were too tired running after her and keeping a lookout for her in case she fell. 6months old.
sleeping peacefully - the only time that i can rest for a few minutes, step back for a breather
Lauren is turning 8months this 15 Jan 2014 - she is already fully crawling, crawling up steps, standing up with the help of furniture at home, eating soft foods. Just waiting for her teeth to start popping through those gums anytime now.
Frankly, I do miss and appreciate my child-less days. Sometimes, before bed, I would reminisce on those carefree days, where all I had to do was focus on my work and earning money. Now, I'd be happy if I can get a straight 5hrs of sleep each night. But I guess having a kid is an entire package. There are good days and there are bad days, and no matter what, your love for your kid will see you through each day.
