my baby & dr. brown

i love dr. brown for my baby. i now have 2 bottles (1 for home use, 1 for travel/out-of-home use), several teats, inserts & barrels. Lauren was very prone to regurgitating her milk during the first 4 months of birth and from a friend's advice, I tried dr. brown at the start of her 2nd month (ie. when she was about 30+ days old). she has been using dr. brown ever since. i use the wide neck bottles and teats - have never tried dr. brown standard bottle & teats so i can't comment.

so far, it has done its job well. happy with that fact that my baby stopped throwing up her milk less (key word is less, not entirely) within a week of using dr. brown, & she has been using it ever since - still is using it, sometimes when drinking water too.

what i'm about to say now may seem controversial.. but... for my baby's bottles, i do NOT wash with detergent all the time/after each & every feed. this includes my medela pumps. i only alternate between washing with detergent and flushing/rinsing with water. why? cuz frankly, at her age of 8mths+, she is putting almost everything in her mouth, i.e.: most things that she puts in her mouth are less hygienic than my expressed breastmilk and formula milk combined.

i'm of the opinion that at a young age, she should start building her immune system & being exposed to the less clean - hence...

since birth, she has only been sick ONE time, which has been at 8months (not when she is teething - she is not yet teething). The most likely the reason for her being sick was cuz she went to a clinic (which already had sick patients) to receive her regular vaccination.
