Volcanic Clay Mask & Green Tea Seed Oil from Innisfree

Since it's Labour Day here in Singapore, the folks are home to help take my hands off Lauren, I have some time to blog! :)

Last week, I visited the Innisfree shop that recently opened at Takashimaya. I've been looking for an affordable volcanic clay mask to help  with my large pores for some years now - but somehow never found something suitable. The ones that brand themselves as volcanic clay mask were either too expensive or the regular brands like Clinique, Shiseido, L'oreal, SKII, Biotherm did not carry such products. I was pleasantly surprised that Innisfree had them. So I had gone ahead to purchase one. If i remember correctly, it was under SGD40 per tub.

Unlike most masks with slightly thick  - thicker consistency, this goes on very smoothly on the skin. So it is not at all difficult to apply a consistent layer on your face.

Not dry and pasty - super easy to achieve an even consistency on the face. I hate it when the mask is too dry or pasty, making it difficult to apply.

I'm really liking this product so far. Inexpensive, and works for me. It does not completely close up my pores, but it definitely makes them appear less deep and smaller. I use it about 2 - 3 times a week. Each time, it is after cleansing my face and before the toner. Speaking of toner, the shop gave me a trial size Volcanic Clay Toner/Lotion to use. I must say I think it is quite good (more on this in the next review).

The other item I had purchased is the their green tea oil which I use as a night time moisturiser.

My skin type is a typical combination skin with an oily T-zone. I remember reading online that people with oily skin or combination skin should not skip on the moisturising step. Instead, it seems that the because your skin is not getting sufficient moisture, it results in over-active oil glands that try to compensate for the lack of moisture. Whatever the reason may be, I've started using this green tea seed oil for 2 weeks now and absolutely love it.

I know it's oil, but after application, it absorbs quite well into the skin. After about 5 minutes, it does not feel oily at all. And to top it off, it smells heavenly! This was slightly pricey though - SGD55 for such a small bottle.

But definitely re-stocking this 2 items for daily use.
